Tree lighting along 50th street

Tree LightingTree lighting along 50th street is a project that many in the Downtown core have wanted for years. At present, lighting along 50th street is poor and there have been safety concerns when walking alone at night. The street also lacks the ambience needed to help establish Downtown Camrose as a destination with visitors and residents.

The lighting will be a permanent fixture on the street when finished and will be used for special occasions throughout the year (the LED lights can be programmed for different colours). Work is scheduled to be completed before Christmas.

Downtown Camrose Dollars

Downtown Camrose Dollars, in denominations of $10, $25, $50 and $100, are now available for purchase at the Chamber of Commerce office and can be redeemed at any Downtown Camrose business! These are great stocking stuffers or gifts for staff or friends and helps keep our downtown core vibrant and thriving.

There is no expiry on the downtown dollars so they can be used throughout the year.

Ice Sculpture Extravaganza

Ice Sculpture CarvingA new initiative is taking place in Downtown Camrose and we invite you to participate!

When we have enough snow, ice sculptures will be carved and placed at various locations throughout Downtown Camrose. Businesses are invited to purchase an ice sculpture on their own or share the cost with another business or individual. Sculptures are 4’ high and we will have as many carved as there is interest from the downtown business community. Completed works will be set up in kiosks throughout Downtown Camrose. Recognition of your participation will be given on social media, in our newsletter, website and all announcements made through other publications.

Downtown Camrose will also be going ahead with building an ice slide and skating rink at 51 Street and 48A Avenue (formerly the location of the Catholic Church). Camrose Co-op has agreed to sponsor the slide as well as allow the City to pile snow for the creation of the slide.  We will be monitoring all current health restrictions that are in place, however at present outdoor rinks, sled hills, etc. are allowed for public use.

For more information please contact Jennifer Filip at 780-672-5191 or Dan Olofson at 780-672-2797.

Bus Shelter Coming in Spring

Downtown Camrose will be installing a bus shelter at the bus stop beside Tish’s Fashions at 4895 50 Street. The shelter was deemed necessary to provide protection for bus users, and others, during the cold winter months as well as when it rains.

The bus shelter will also have a kiosk containing information about all of the businesses in the downtown core. It is our intention to have the shelter installed by Spring.
